RECRUITING PROCESS

Your Journey in
Joining SPG

#StongerTogether

How We Hire

Your journey starts here

Finding the right opportunity is a two-way process. We want to learn about your experience, goals and what you can bring to SPG and give you the opportunity to learn about us along the way.

While every hiring experience may vary depending on the role and team, here’s what you can generally expect when you apply to SPG.

A Note on AI

Specialty Program Group uses limited AI and automation tools within our recruitment systems to enhance efficiency in the hiring process and in the candidate experience. These tools do not independently make hiring decisions or screen out candidates — all decisions are made through human review.

Application Process

This is a general overview and guideline of the recruitment process at Specialty Program Group. There may be variances in your experience during the interview process based on the position, location, and business function you are interviewing for. Your engaging subtitle goes here. Provide a brief description or engaging subtitle that captures the essence of your content and encourages users to explore further. This text should be concise yet informative.

01. Explore & Apply

Find an opportunity that matches your experience, interests and career goals.
Before applying, take a few minutes to review your resume and make sure it accurately reflects your most recent experience, accomplishments, education, certifications and skills.

When you're ready, submit your application and most up-to-date resume.

After you apply, you'll receive a confirmation and can check the status of your application through your candidate account.

02. Connect with a Recruiter

If your experience aligns with the opportunity, a member of our recruiting team may reach out to schedule an initial conversation.

This is an opportunity for us to learn more about your background, experience and career goals — and for you to learn more about the role, the team and SPG.

Come ready to talk about what you've done, what you're looking for next and what interested you in the opportunity.

And bring your questions. We want you to determine whether SPG feels like the right fit for you, too.

03. Meet the Team

The next stage typically includes conversations with members of the hiring team.

Depending on the position, you may meet with one or several people who can give you a closer look at the role, team dynamics, expectations and how the position contributes to SPG.
Your recruiter will help you understand what to expect and who you'll be meeting.

Use these conversations to show how your experience connects to the opportunity, while also learning more about the people you may work with every day.

04. Decision & Offer

Once interviews are complete, the hiring team will determine next steps.
Your recruiter will keep you informed and connect with you regarding the outcome of the process.

If you're selected, your recruiter will walk you through the offer, answer your questions and explain what comes next.

After an offer is accepted, additional pre-employment steps, including a background check where applicable, may be required before your start date.

Put your best foot forward

An interview isn't only about answering questions. It's your opportunity to share your experience, understand the role and decide whether SPG is the right place for your next step.

A Few Ways to Prepare

Do your research

Spend some time getting to know SPG and the role you've applied for.

Review the job description again and explore our businesses, specialties and the work we do. Think about how your experience connects to the opportunity and what you'd like to learn during the conversation.

Know Your Story

Think about the experiences that best demonstrate what you can bring to the role.

Be prepared to talk about:
  • Accomplishments you're proud of
  • Challenges you've worked through
  • Results you've helped deliver
  • Skills you've developed
  • What you're hoping to do next

Specific examples can help us better understand the impact you've made.

Prepare Examples

Before your interview, think through a few situations from your experience that demonstrate relevant skills.

Focus on what the situation was, what you did and what happened as a result.

Keep your examples focused and, when possible, use specific outcomes or results.

Get Ready For The Conversation

For a virtual interview, test your technology ahead of time and find a quiet place where you can focus.

For an in-person interview, confirm the location, timing and any materials you've been asked to bring.

Either way, give yourself time to settle in before the conversation starts.

Ask Questions

You're interviewing us, too.

Use the conversation to learn more about the team, the role, expectations, career opportunities and what working at SPG is really like.

Questions you might consider asking:
  • What does success look like in this role?
  • What are the team's biggest priorities?
  • How would you describe the team culture?
  • What opportunities are there to learn and grow?
  • What do you enjoy most about working at SPG?

Follow Up

If you'd like to follow up after your conversation, a brief thank-you message is always welcome.

It's also a good opportunity to reinforce your interest and ask about next steps if they weren't already discussed.

FAQs - Applications

Browse our open positions on our careers page and click "Apply" on any role that interests you. You'll be asked to create a profile and submit your resume. We recommend tailoring your application to highlight experience relevant to the specific role.

Yes! If you're qualified for multiple roles, we encourage you to apply to each one separately. This helps us match you with the best opportunity and ensures the right hiring team sees your application.

Our recruiters review applications daily and respond or update candidate statuses as soon as possible. If your background aligns with what we're looking for, a recruiter will reach out to schedule a conversation. Due to the volume of applications we receive, we're unable to respond to every candidate individually, but we encourage you to apply to other roles if you don't hear from us.

FAQs - Interview Process

Our process varies by role, but typically includes an initial recruiter interview and hiring team interview(s).

  • Review the job description and be ready to discuss how your experience aligns with the key responsibilities
  • Research SPG - learn about our business, values, and recent news
  • Prepare specific examples that demonstrate your skills and accomplishments (we often use behavioral interviewing and recommend using the STAR method)
  • Have questions ready for us - we want you to learn about SPG too!
  • Test your technology if it's a virtual interview

This depends on the role and location. Your recruiter will let you know the format when scheduling. For virtual interviews, we typically use Microsoft Teams.

We use competency-based interviewing, which means we'll ask you to share specific examples from your past experience. Questions often start with "Tell me about a time when..." or "Give me an example of..." We're looking to understand how you approach challenges, work with others, and deliver results.

We may also ask technical-based questions if applicable to the position you are interviewing for.

From application to offer, the process typically takes several weeks, though this can vary based on role complexity, scheduling, and the number of interview rounds. Your recruiter will keep you updated on timing and next steps.

Absolutely. SPG is committed to providing an accessible and inclusive interview experience. Please let your recruiter know if you need any accommodations, and we'll work with you to ensure you can participate fully. You may also reach out to HUBrecruiting@hubinternational.com for assistance.

After Your Interview

We aim to provide feedback within a few days after each interview round. Your recruiter will be your main point of contact throughout the process.

We understand that conflicts happen. Please contact your recruiter as soon as possible, and we'll work to find an alternative time that works for everyone.

Yes! If it's been more than a week since your last interview and you haven't heard from us, feel free to reach out to your recruiter. We want to keep you informed.

The Offer Process

Congratulations! Your recruiter will call you to extend the verbal offer and discuss details including compensation, benefits, and start date. You'll then receive a formal written offer letter via email.

We typically provide a couple of business days to review and accept an offer, though we're happy to discuss timing if you need additional time to make your decision.

All HUB offers are contingent on successfully completing a background check, which typically includes verification of employment history, education, and criminal records (where permitted by law). Your recruiter will provide details and next steps. This process may take a few weeks to complete.

Start dates are flexible based on your availability and our team's needs. We typically advise for at least two weeks' notice to your current employer, and we'll work with you to determine a start date that works for everyone.
