Note: This is a general overview and guideline of the recruitment process at HUB International. There may be variances in your experience during the interview process based on the position, location, and business function you are interviewing for.

Before You Apply
Take a moment to review your resume before submitting your application. Does it accurately reflect your most recent experience, accomplishments, education, certifications, and career journey?

Your resume plays an important role throughout our recruitment process and is also used as part of our pre-employment screening and background check process. Providing complete, accurate, and up-to-date information helps ensure a smooth candidate experience and allows our Talent Acquisition team to effectively assess your qualifications and alignment with the role.

A few extra minutes spent reviewing your information can make a meaningful difference in helping us understand your experience and ensuring the information provided is consistent throughout the hiring process.

We appreciate your interest in joining HUB and look forward to learning more about you.

A Note on AI
HUB International uses limited AI and automation tools within our recruitment systems to enhance efficiency in the hiring process and in the candidate experience. These tools do not independently make hiring decisions or screen out candidates — all decisions are made through human review.

Step 1: Apply

Review our open positions and directly apply to the positions(s) your are interested in!

During the application process, be sure to share your most-up-to-date and accurate resume, career experience and skills, and credentials, if applicable.

Once you apply, you will receive a confirmation email and can create an account to check the status of your application in your candidate portal. Our recruting team will review your application and update your application status as soon as possible.

If you are selected to move forward, a recruiter will reach out to you directly to schedule an initial interview.

Step 2: Initial Recruiter Interview

If you are selected to move forward, you will meet with the recruiter via phone or virtually.

In this step, you will have the opportunity to learn more about the role and give the recruiter a snapshot of your background as it relates to the position you are interviewing for.

We recommend you review HUB International and what it's like to work here so you are prepared to discuss yourself and how you fit with our organization from what you have learned. Questions are welcome!

If you and the recruiter believe this is a good fit for you, the recruiter will discuss potential next steps with the hiring team.

Step 3: Hiring Team Interviews

Your recruiter will prepare you in advance with details about who you'll meet, what to expect, and how to get ready. During this stage, you'll discuss the position and department in depth, including team dynamics, working styles, expectations, and how your skills align with the role. You'll also have time to ask questions and learn more about the team.

We believe in transparency throughout the process. Your recruiter will keep you informed at every step and reach out with feedback after your interview. We also encourage you to keep us updated on your timeline and any changes on your end—open communication helps us move efficiently and respectfully for everyone involved.

If the team agrees it's a strong mutual fit, we'll discuss next steps together. Questions? Reach out to your recruiter anytime.

Step 4: Decision & Next Steps

We're big believers in moving fast, but never at the expense of making the right call. Once interviews and team discussions are complete, your recruiter will reach out personally to share feedback and discuss next steps—whether that's moving forward or providing closure.

Once a decision is made, your recruiter will connect with you for a conversation. You're never just a name in a pipeline here and we aim to personally provide feedback and updates so you know exactly what is taking place. We're committed to clear communication and supporting you in your decision-making process too.

Step 5: Offer

Verbal Offer
If selected, we will reach out to verbally review the offer details, discuss next steps, and answer any questions you may have.

Written Offer
Once all the details have been discussed, and your questions have been answered, you'll receive your formal written offer letter to review, sign and return if you accept the offer.

Background Check
Once we receive your signed offer letter, our team will initiate a background check for you. You will receive an email with the next steps and instructions to effectively work with our background check vendor. Please ensure all information provided is accurate and provide any requested supporting documentation quickly, if applicable. This step in the process may take a few weeks to complete and our team will keep you updated along the way.

The Interview Process

Our process varies by role, but typically includes an initial recruiter interview and hiring team interview(s).

  • Review the job description and be ready to discuss how your experience aligns with the key responsibilities
  • Research HUB - learn about our business, values, and recent news
  • Prepare specific examples that demonstrate your skills and accomplishments (we often use behavioral interviewing and recommend using the STAR method)
  • Have questions ready for us - we want you to learn about HUB too!
  • Test your technology if it's a virtual interview

This depends on the role and location. Your recruiter will let you know the format when scheduling. For virtual interviews, we typically use Microsoft Teams.

We use competency-based interviewing, which means we'll ask you to share specific examples from your past experience. Questions often start with "Tell me about a time when..." or "Give me an example of..." We're looking to understand how you approach challenges, work with others, and deliver results.

We may also ask technical-based questions if applicable to the position you are interviewing for.

From application to offer, the process typically takes several weeks, though this can vary based on role complexity, scheduling, and the number of interview rounds. Your recruiter will keep you updated on timing and next steps.

Absolutely. HUB is committed to providing an accessible and inclusive interview experience. Please let your recruiter know if you need any accommodations, and we'll work with you to ensure you can participate fully. You may also reach out to HUBrecruiting@hubinternational.com for assistance.

We aim to provide feedback within a few days after each interview round. Your recruiter will be your main point of contact throughout the process.

We understand that conflicts happen. Please contact your recruiter as soon as possible, and we'll work to find an alternative time that works for everyone.

Yes! If it's been more than a week since your last interview and you haven't heard from us, feel free to reach out to your recruiter. We want to keep you informed.

The Offer Process

Congratulations! Your recruiter will call you to extend the verbal offer and discuss details including compensation, benefits, and start date. You'll then receive a formal written offer letter via email.

We typically provide a couple of business days to review and accept an offer, though we're happy to discuss timing if you need additional time to make your decision.

All HUB offers are contingent on successfully completing a background check, which typically includes verification of employment history, education, and criminal records (where permitted by law). Your recruiter will provide details and next steps. This process may take a few weeks to complete.

Start dates are flexible based on your availability and our team's needs. We typically advise for at least two weeks' notice to your current employer, and we'll work with you to determine a start date that works for everyone.
